You may remember some time ago I blooged that the Everton FC midfielder Lee Carsley, who has a young son with Down syndrome, had put up for auction a Planet Hollywood leather jacket, an item all the first team squad were presented with by Blues director Robert Earl on a recent trip to New York.
Lee decided to get the Everton squad to sign his and said all proceeds raised would go to Down Syndrome Liverpool.
True to his word Lee met up with us recently and presented us with a cheque for £1000!!
Shauna Hogan and Daniel Daley both keen Evertonians managed to get time off from school to come and meet Lee and discuss tactics with him for the last game of the season - something must have rubbed off!
This is a significant sum raised for us by Lee and on behalf of Down Syndrome Liverpool the committee members and I as well as all our members would like to pass on our thanks and appreciation to Lee.

What a credit Lee Carsley is to the world of football.
I am also a parent of a child with DS and the fact that somebody with the fame that Lee has is able to raise awareness of the condition is fantastic.
We have had to fight with every breath to get some basic services for our daughter - and with people like Lee highlighting the situation - we only hope things will become easier for all our children.
Thomas - this is the first time I've come across your blog. It's excellent, well done and keep up the good work.
