July 2007 Archives

Monday lunchtime toddler group

Posted by Thomas Regan on July 31, 2007 10:47 AM

Took Charlotte to a group arranged by a parent at Matthew Arnold Children's Centre yesterday.

I only had a short time there as I was on my dinner hour from work. During our time at the group Charlotte played with toys whilst I let parents know about the existence of Down Syndrome Liverpool and what we can do for them and their children.

What Difference Do We Make?

Posted by Thomas Regan on July 19, 2007 11:49 AM

Recently Vicky and I received a letter from a parent whose daughter has Down's syndrome.

In the letter it is their intention to meet other parents and children in the Liverpool area with Down's syndrome with the hope of forming a group and meeting on a regular basis.

That's all well and good and fair play to them but I have my concerns about this letter.

Uncertainty of ESA and Tweenies live

Posted by Thomas Regan on July 18, 2007 11:10 AM

Last Friday Charlotte met with her potential ESA, Christina.

Vicky went along and said Charlotte seemed to like her although it's still not certain whether Christina be definitely be starting Matthew Arnold in September alongside Charlotte.

On Monday, Charlotte's school celebrated Liverpool's 800th birthday party. A Robbie Williams tribute act entertained the kids and Charlotte came home showing us how she danced in school, which was really funny.

Looking at the photo below it's hard to see how she managed to get up and dance around in school though!

Education review meeting

Posted by Thomas Regan on July 10, 2007 1:41 PM

Yesterday we had a review meeting regarding Charlotte's Individual Education Plan.

I say we, but in truth I couldn't attend as I was working.

These types of meetings are important as they outline Charlotte's future needs for her education.

The party's over

Four. Blimey. Sunday came and went - the barbeque was well and truly redundant. Instead hot pork and beef buns were the order of the day - thanks in the main to my aunt!

The kids seemed to enjoy themselves, although it came to my attention how few babies/toddlers we have across the family. Many of the kids are either too old or too cool to attend fourth birthday parties.
