It's a busy time this week at home. Charlotte will be four on Sunday and preparations are well under way at Regan Towers.
No, not late nights after work making jellies or wrapping the 'pass the parcel' gifts in used Echo's (I knew working here would come in handy!) but bloody painting and decorating!!
The living room and dining room is being re-painted. After a hard day at work I don my old Charlatans tee shirt and pick up the roller. I even have to do the kitchen!
Charlotte is going to celebrate her fourth birthday with party number four, her two brothers aged 10 and 13, constantly remind VIcky and I that 'it's not fair, because we don't always have parties'.
Granted, they don't, but it's different with Charlotte. Her birthday parties are a chance for the whole family to come together and see how she is progressing. They are also a reminder for us to celebrate Charlotte and it's times like this that we remember the expertise of the surgeons, doctors and nurses who looked after Lottie at Alder Hey during the months after she was born, when she overcame major heart surgery.
They are the people who helped us have these times and we are eternally grateful.
A lick of paint doesn't seem all that bad now. Now where's that paintbrush?
