PROPOSED SUMMER ACTIVITY SUPPORT GROUP
Posted by Thomas Regan on May 28, 2007 9:10 AM
It is our (the committee's) intention to start a second support group focused upon children aged 3 - 7 years with Down Syndrome.
The aim of this group is to have structured activities where the children will be supervised at play so their parents can have the opportunity to talk between themselves.

One of the activities we do as a committee is organise and run a group which is aimed at supporting families of children with Down Syndrome aged birth to three years old.
The group provides a drop in centre where parents can meet and interact with other families

Earlier in my blog I mentioned my uncle's daughter Katie organised a sponsored walk and silence to raise money for Down Syndrome Liverpool.
For the sponsored silence she encouraged some of her year seven friends at Childwall sports college to join in.
Shauna' dreams come true

When the postman delivered a letter to Shauna Hogan's home recently, who'd have thought it would contain the words that would make all Shauna's dreams come true?
That's exactly what happened when Liverpool Empire Theatre informed Shauna, 14, of Wavertree
that she had been successful in her audition for a place in the ensemble for their forthcoming show Summer Holiday.

The photo in this blog entry shows a significant development for Charlotte.
As I've said on here before Charlotte does not eat. She's never taken anything orally, until now.
My sister's baby has just started eating baby food, and so we decided to give Charlotte some as she copies what other kids do. Heinz egg custard with apple - she can't get enough of it!
Lee Carsley signed jacket auction

I had a pleasant surprise on Saturday when reading the Football Echo. Everton's Lee Carsley who is very active with his local Down Syndrome branch in Solihull has decided to get involved with some fundraising for the Liverpool branch.
Being a committee member and a big evertonian I am delighted with this.
Charlotte's School Fun Run
Posted by Thomas Regan on May 11, 2007 10:53 AM
Charlotte's school are doing a sponsored fun run to raise money for school funds. 10% of the total raised is going to be donated to Down Syndrome LIVERPOOL which is a nice gesture.
Her school, Matthew Arnold, have always been good raising money for Down Syndrome as they not only have Charlotte but two other Down's children there.
Alder Hey again...
Posted by Thomas Regan on May 8, 2007 11:37 AM
Charlotte attended Alder Hey last week...again. Not before a trip to Smithdown Road Children's A&E! Where I encountered a grown man singing Liverpool football songs to his child. WHY?
Not only where we standing in a hot and sweaty A&E department waiting to be seen after a long day at work and an upset child - we have to endure that!
Anway, turns out she cracked a bone in her foot which they strapped up from knee to toe. She wasn't happy being imobilised I can tell you.
Katie's sponsored silence and walk

Had a phone call yesterday from my aunt. Her daughter Katie, 12, has organised a sponsored silence and a sponsored walk of her own accord with all monies raised going to Down Syndrome LIVERPOOL.
She's even made her own sponsor forms and has up to now raised over £60!
