She Bangs The Drums

Posted by Thomas Regan on April 16, 2007 1:48 PM |

A few years ago I decided to buy a guitar and teach myself to become my guitar hero John Squire - oh yes!!

'Mid-life' crisis friends of mine cried as I busied myself printing off Stone Roses tabs/chords from the internet...

Now, I confess I'm no John Squire - far from it, but I'll have a go. Learning all the tricks by Mr Lee, Shack, Bunnymen, Roses and other stuff with the basic chords E, Em, G, D and Am.

Just recently I have started to pick it back up, three children and the demands of family life has left my poor old guitar in the corner of the bedroom gathering dust (not the 60's dust sprinkled over the equipment by Lee Mavers either!)

Anyway at the weekend I was happily strumming away when Charlotte came in the room demanding 'Wind The Bobbin Up' and 'The Big Ships Sails On The Ally Oh'. I relented and began playing nursery rhymes on the guitar.

Now this was not what I had in mind when I first bought my axe! Turns out though it was the best half hour or so I've had whilst playing my guitar. I'm going to let her play her Early Learning Centre drum at our next jamming session.

Anyone know of any websites with guitar chords for 'The Wheels On The Bus'?

You are a man of hidden talents and your taste in music is just about passable.

Anyway, hearing about Charlottes love of nursery rhymes reminded me of our Shauna and a series of videos we got her years ago - by something called the Singing Kettle.

They probably taught her to talk and as you know she hasn't stopped since. i think you can still get a hold of the Singing kettle Shows on video/dvd from their web site cant remember the exact address but if you look for singing kettle you will get it.
