September Sting...

Posted by Thomas Regan on March 22, 2007 11:00 AM |

Vicky had a meeting earlier this week to discuss Charlotte starting primary school in September this year, I couldn't attend as I was at work.

Before the meeting we had discussed that the best thing for her was to keep her back a year and wait for September 2008 as we felt she just wasn't ready for this year.

It was a decision which we agonised over, what with her being tube fed, obviously her learning difficulties and not even being potty trained.

Well...

...I get in from work and Vicky tells me she's starting this September this year!

I was a little shocked but it turns out the meeting was made up of Charlotte's head teacher, her current teacher, Charlotte's key worker and other professionals involved in her welfare.

The outcome was we would not be wise holding her back as she has come on so much since starting pre-school 6 months ago. There is no doubt about this as her talking is coming on great and her awareness of things around her too. I was more worried about the physical aspects rather than the learning side of things.

It seems like only yesterday she had her heart surgery, never mind waving her off to school in six months time.

And yes, that means yet another uniform I'll be stung for in September.

Happy days.

I know from personal experience how difficult it is to let a child go anywhere out of your sight for the first time, and that must be tenfold for you Thomas.

I am sure that you and your wife are doing the right thing and I know your little girl could not have two better parents, even if you are a Blue!
