Irish night success?

Posted by Thomas Regan on March 19, 2007 12:00 PM |

Our Irish night took place on Friday (16th March).

It was well attended, thanks to everyone who came along.

Again though the majority of the people who came were family and friends of the committee. This is becoming of some concern for me personally...

...we can't keep expecting the same people to come along and support our events and put their hands in their pockets all the time.

We publicised the event to members through posting flyers (costs) and our newsletter, but yet again few (if any at all) responses were forthcoming. What else can we do to entice people to come along? After all it's their children that are benefitting.

The other personal disappointment was no teens and adults with downs were in attendance (apart from Shauna of course, who danced with the irish dancers) , this was an event we thought ideal for older members/non-members to have a night out.

On the whole though it was a good event, the Steve Finnan Ireland shirt brought us £160 and I won the stand-up bingo (a case of wine) ! Fix I hear you cry.

Maybe you should use some sort of computer based method of spreading the word about your group - like an on-line diary maybe?
