Irish night preparations, more spots

Posted by Thomas Regan on February 26, 2007 11:15 AM |

I attended February's committee meeting last Thursday without Vicky. The main topic of discussion was the impending Irish Night on Friday 16th.

We are having a night with traditional irish dancers, irish stew and a raffle. Obviously we are aiming to have an irish theme throughout the night.

I had in mind to offer a weekend for 2 in dublin as the top prize in the raffle, but with time limitations and cost I think we will have to leave this particular idea for now.

I'd also wrote to a letter to Lee Carsley before the recent Ireland international match asking for a signed Ireland football shirt for an auction. So far I have not received a reply, which is a little disappointing.

If anyone has any ideas for prizes, auction items or games for an irish night I'd love to hear from you.

Charlotte still has chickenpox, more spots are appearing by the day, she seems a bit kranky at times and certainly doesn't like the calamine lotion! Vicky will look after her this week, taking some time off work.

We have a meeting about what we intend to do about her starting school this week - a big decision needs to be made, I'm unsure about what to do to be honest. More on this tomorrow.

Hi,
I too am the father of a girl with Down's Syndrome. She is now 8 (9 in April) and just seeing your blog brought everything back to me on how I felt when she was born. How old is your daughter? My daughter Elizabeth couldn't drink or walk properly until she was 2 and a half, but now there's no stopping her. I hope all is well with your girls heart. There is a whole network of support you can access, even if it's just having another parent share and empathise with what you are going through. Good luck and best wishes to you all. Regards, Ron.

With regards to raffle prizes, write to Liverpool FC and Everton FC direct. In my experience, Liverpool offer you a family ticket to visit the Anfield Museum tour, and Everton often offer a signed football.

Good luck.
